Challenges:

The main engineering challenge was combining several complex mobile experiences into one consistent application. The app needed to handle authenticated and guest users, real-time communication, continuously changing product data, media-heavy social feeds, location-based discovery, push notifications, and payment flows while maintaining a responsive experience across both iOS and Android.

Solution:

Built the application with React Native, Expo, and TypeScript using domain-focused Redux Toolkit state management and Redux Persist for persistent application state. Socket.io was used for bidirectional real-time communication, while Server-Sent Events were used for live product and inventory updates. FlashList was introduced for efficient rendering of media-heavy feeds. Camera and video workflows were integrated with foreground compression before upload, while Stripe React Native powers secure checkout. Deep linking, push notifications, maps, and WebView integrations connect different parts of the product experience.
